Introduction
Welcome to my review and tutorial of selling low-content books on Amazon. A low-content book is one where the inside pages have little or no content. I made this income stream because I had seen people on facebook reporting they were making money publishing books on Amazon. I chose low-content books because it would be the quickest book to make.

On Oct 30, 2023, I made the "Simple Notebook" and submitted it to Amazon KDS. Three days later, Amazon KDS (Kindle Direct Publishing) made the book available for sale on Amazon: Simple Notebook in soft cover and Simple Notebook in hard cover.
Results: As of Nov 30, 2023, I can't find a way to see how many times the books have been viewed on Amazon. There are no sales. I expect an improved design and promotion would make a difference. Will update wthe design, make a strategy for promotion and then add an update.
Summary
I used an online tutorial and online tools to generate a cover and interior pages for a soft cover and hard cover format notebook and listed them on Amazon. It took half of a day to complete and Amazon approve the notebooks and listed them for sale 3 days later.
Steps
Step 1. Define the Product
I went on Facebook and watched a video about publishing called "How To Make AI Work For You". I knew it wasn't what I was looking for, but I attended the webinar to get more information about publishing. The webinar was a long windup to pitch a $2000 program for coaching and selling AI-generated fiction books.
I looked online for tutorials about selling low-content books on Amazon. I found Create a Journal to Sell on Amazon KDP for FREE. I watched the video and took notes.
I decided to make a 6x9 soft cover notebook with 120 pages.
Step 2. Make the cover
I went to Bookow.com, clicked "KDP Cover Template Generator", entered the width as 6 inches, the height as 9 inches, page count of 120, entered my email address twice clicked consent to email, and clicked "email cover template." The email templates were sent to my inbox.
I copied the PNG version of the template from my email to my desktop.
I went to canva.com, created an account, created a design with the measurements from the template. I dragged my template on the left to upload it, dragged the uploaded copy to the right to add it to the canvas, resized it to fit the full size of the canvas. I then added my text to the cover design, using the template for positioning. I dragged a square the canvas, sized it to the canvas to cover the template and colored it white. I clicked download and chose PDF for print.
Step 3. Make the interior pages
- I went to the video author's website, chose "120 pages lined paper interior PDF for KDP," added it to cart, set "fair price" to $0, put my email in "contact information" and clicked "get." I put my interior pages pdf on my desktop.
Step 4. Submit the Book to Amazon
I logged into amazon and went to kdp.amazon.com (Kindle Direct Publishing). I completed the basic, payment and tax info sections which finished the setup.
I clicked "Create" and completed the form. The form is 3 pages and takes only a few minutes to fill out. For pricing:
- The 6x9 soft cover print cost is $2.44. After looking at competitor pricing, I chose a price of $5.97. At a commission rate of 60%, my profit per book is $1.14.
- The 6x9 hard cover print cost is $7.09. to make a similar amount, I chose a price of $13.97 so I'd make about the same amount.
- I waited 3 days for the book to be live on Amazon.
Conclusion
This income stream was easy to make. It requires no technical skills and was able to be completed in less than a day. It requires no subsequent effort though I can see obtaining reviews could increase how often the books are presented to users. Repeating the process would amplify returns.
